DeBora's Dreamscape
| n. A dreamlike scene or picture having surreal qualities.
DeBora; Your
home is magnificent! My girlfriend Terri and I have been to several out islands
in the last few years, and probably enjoyed Long Island more than the others.
We had windy weather, which prohibited us from snorkeling on the Atlantic side,
but we enjoyed Dean's blue hole, and some other inshore areas. We found some beautiful
beaches on our own, especially at the north end by the Columbus monument. I
looked for bonefish each day behind the house, and quite a ways up and down the
shore, but saw none. If an improvement could be made, it would be to have
better directions to many of the beaches and snorkeling areas that are accessible
without a boat. We spent hours driving up and down many dead end roads, trying
to get to the sea. At times, we would get there, only to find no beach, just a
surf break on rocks. Pierre was informative when we asked for help. He
also served a great meal one night, as did the Parrots restaurant near the house.
We are telling our friends about our experiences, with many of them considering
going over there. I directed them to your web site, which by the way is outstanding,
the best of any I've seen. Thank you again, Captain Wayne Reply
from DeBora: Thanks for the info. Great suggestions! Regarding: Snorkeling
without a boat, any places you think I should add to our site?
The locals are the ones who told me that the best bonefishing is right outside
our villa. | | Hi DeBora, Just wanted to share that
we had a great week on Long Island. The accommodations were great. Waking up and
seeing paradise out the window every morning was the best. Actually the entire
house provided a great view of the water. Whether we were doing dishes, reading
on the lanai, or using the toilet, the turquoise water provided a soothing back
drop. Sorry to say Mike didn't catch any bonefish out in front of the house.
But his skills need to be polished. So maybe next year he'll have better luck.
He did great with a local guide out on a boat. I even went with him one day and
caught a few bonefish. But I enjoyed seeing the water and landscape out on the
ocean flats more. We ate at Max's Conch Grill the first night. Gary's conch
salad was great. Mike picked up a fresh batch after each day of fishing. We also
ate at Chez Pierre twice, once without reservations and he didn't get upset. Otherwise
we found the local fish market and grocery had a good selection for making dinner
at the house. Thanks again for the wonderful vacation spot. We are highly
recommending it to our friends and are considering going back in 2009. Have
a great summer. Mike and Debbie Martinsville, NJ | DeBora, We
are calling you from your villa right now and we absolutely love it. We wanted
to call you right away to have you please mark us down for next year during the
same time frame. We realize that this is a year away, but we are having such a
great time that we wanted to make sure we didnt loose our chance of reserving
this home for next year. We were eating at Chez Pierre and another couple said
that next year they wanted to stay here, so we had to call you right away. Thanks Judy

You got it! I'm glad to hear you enjoy it as much as I do. |
Hi
DeBora, We did have the most wonderful week of weather! The people of Long
Island are so great - that is one reason why we come back every year (as well
as the lovely, secluded beaches). Many of the friends we met when we were there
on our sailboat 4 years ago are still around and it is so great to catch up with
them. Your cottage is so convenient for us because most of our friends are either
at the Bite, or in salt pond/Thompson bay so it is the perfect location. It is
also very clean, has wonderful views and really does meet our needs for the stay.
My only suggestion would be to add a cutting board, or maybe a small cooler to
the kitchen equipment. Other than that - it was perfect! Thank you for having
us and I'm sure we will be back!Best, Jennifer Jennifer Stinson Vineyard

new, we are gradually bringing items down to the house. Cutting Board and Cooler
are on their way. Thanks for the idea! |
Hey
DeBora, YES, we had exceptional weather all days there! We enjoyed the location
a lot! The beach house was great! .... We enjoyed the Bahamian Village/Pirates
of the Caribbean tiki bar and grill. Great people there and clean!...It was so
close! :) We also had some food from the Seafood market at the Marina just up
the road (west side) and the lobster and shrimp were incredible! We used Hillside
Grocery! They had everything we wanted and needed. The timer coffee machine was
great to have. Woke up to coffee every morning! Perfect! Your "Yukka"
bushes at the downstairs entrance and at the stairs tot he upstairs stabbed us
a few times. Just thought you may want to know that... in case you want to move
them somewhere else at some point. :) They would be great out front around the
screened area for "protection" rather than at a very frequented spot.
Not trying to tell you how to do things at all! I just know how it feels to have
rental property and thought I would give you my opinions. :)...
We had
issue with the can opener upstairs-both of them. Could not seem to get the old
one to work at all and the new one in the knife set block was confusing and we
never figured it out. There's a GREAT guy at Chris and Jean's Dive shop off
Queens Road just south of you that carves wood and makes the coolest art! Fish,
sea turtles, YOU NAME IT! Very quality work and we saw many of his pieces around.
Great wall hangings!! He's a native (young) and works with Chris a lot... I think
his name is Charles! Very nice young man and his mom makes all kinds of cool straw
stuff, placemats, baskets, etc... She has a shop north of your place. We
loved the house and the location! We got a couple of kayaks from Chris and Gene
(American) down the road (Queen's) at ReelDivers. They were so cool and very helpful
with insight on the island of where all the neat spots were! ..We wrote a nice
note in your greeting book too! We loved the island and it's natives we met! Thanks
so much. Jenn Cribb
Reply from DeBora: I moved
the Yukka bushes to the back side of the new outside grill location - thanks for
the tip. They really did get big fast and they also stabbed me in the back a few
times before I moved them. Also, a new electronic can opener is already at the
house upstairs. Simply put it on the can, press the button and let it go. Thanks
for your suggestions - we used them all. |
Hi
DeBora: We had an excellent vacation on Long Island. Beautiful weather - sunny
every day, breezy and no humidity. ...Debora's Dreamscape Villa on Indian Hole
Point, Thompson Bay was spacious, new, and right on the beach - beautiful sunset
views! We loved the food at Chez Pierre (great seafood pasta), Club Washington
had excellent chicken, grouper & burger platters (great prices) Contact Jerrry
@ Atlantic Fisheries in Salt Pond for fresh grouper and lobster tails - we feasted
3 days on this. (signposted just off Queens Hwy by HCS grocery store) ...While
in Clarence town visit the majestic Father Jerome Anglican and Catholic churches
- stunning! The islanders were incredibly friendly and made our visit truly memorable.
We had a wonderful time You could mention on your website Atlantic Fisheries in
Salt Pond. The owner Jerry was fabulous and sold us fresh grouper and lobster
tails - great for someone who would like a meal or 2 at home. ... Bahamian Village
... you could mention this on your website as a lunch recommendation. Warm
Regards, Sherry Chiarolanzio
